How do I prepare my CD-Audio master?
For CD–Audio creation, we recommend that your Master CD-R should be in compliance with Sony / Phillips Red Book specifications, made as follows:
- Maximum CD Play time 79 minutes
- Maximum number of tracks 99
- Indices per Track maximum 99
- Sampling frequency 44,1kHz
- Track length must be longer than 4 seconds
- Pause before the first track must be 2 seconds minimum
- Add CD Text if needed but test thoroughly
- Recorded as a Disc At Once single session mode
- The data track format the master is Mode 1
- Do not use CD-RW or DVD-RW discs
- Use only new and high quality master media
- Use lower recording speeds as it improves the readability of the disc
- The discs must be free from dirt and scratches
- Supply master in plastic case for better protection
- Use only a special marker to write onto the disc surface
- Do not write on the data side of the disc
- Send us more than one copy of your master
- Always keep a copy of your data – do not send your only copy
- Supply separate track list in accordance with the below
- The track list must contain the order, names and times of the individual audio tracks and total playing times. We also recommend specifying the lengths of gaps between the tracks.
- Should the CD contain text information, you must state this in your documents (CD-Text, IRC Code, UPC/EAN disc code, CD+Graphics or Karaoke lyrics).
Once you have burned a CD Audio master, we recommend a test listening prior to sending it for production. We also recommend that you check items such as the CD-Text if it is required, as some devices do not display text correctly. This will help you identify and troubleshoot any errors in your master preparation.
