It’s anybody’s guess how long Vinyl’s resurgence will last, with vinyl sales expected to reach a 28 year high and further projected to grow again this year. One can argue the predominant factor in the resurgence is much to do with the quality and warmth of sound rather than nostalgia which is an encouraging sign moving forward. And now it seems the one of the legendary presses from the formats hey-day, Tuff Gong International is betting on the aforementioned and reopening it’s factory.
Originally founded by Bob Marley and based in Kingston, Jamaica Tuff Gong has partnered with United States-based company Sunpress Vinyl to revive its vinyl manufacturing business. The company’s factory to undergo a major renovation to accomodate a surge in sales from customers based mainly out of Asia and Europe. Reggae legend Bob Marley founded the vinyl pressing company in the 1970s as part of his vision for a one-stop record production facility where musicians can record music and have it on vinyl at the same place.dancehall hiphop]
